66 Day Revolution / Nov 16

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 45/Book 45 – ROMANS): There may not be a more important theological book in the entire Bible than what we see in ROMANS. Just the mention of Rome should tell you that the gospel mission was spreading as the Lord intended it to. Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire and would become a key city for Paul to reach out to. It …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 44/Book 44 – ACTS): My youngest son use to call this book the Book of ACTION instead of the Book of ACTS. He just couldn’t remember it exactly, but he wasn’t too far off was he? There is amazing action taking place. This action was something that the Old Testament never spoke about with any specifics. The Book of ACTS te …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 43/Book 43 – JOHN): This is definitely my favorite book of the Bible. It has nothing to do with the name, but with the substance. No other book on the Bible exalts Jesus to the extent that this book does. The deity of Jesus is a major theme. The “I AM” statements in John point us back to Exodus 3 when God revealed Himsel …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 42/Book 42 – LUKE): All four gospels are named after the writers. Luke is another unique individual. He wrote two New Testament books, LUKE & ACTS. This is obvious when you read the opening words and see that each is written to a “Theophilus”. There is some healthy debate about whether this “Theophilus” was a per …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 41/Book 41 – MARK): The man for whom this book is named has quite the history to look back on. Mark was a companion of Peter and also known as John Mark (ACTS 12:11-12; I PETER 5:13). He was a cousin to the well-known encourager Barnabas (COLOSSIANS 4:10). Mark traveled with Paul and Barnabas on their First Missionary Journe …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 40/Book 40 – MATTHEW): Here we are in the New Testament starting off with the four gospels. The first three books, MATTHEW, MARK, & LUKE are called the synoptic gospels because they are similar. JOHN is the unique gospel book and I will tell you why near the end of the week. The book of MATTHEW is named after one of the …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 39/Book 39 – MALACHI): Well, today we end the Old Testament! That was challenging. Kudos for all of you who kept up as I am learning how to blog. I have purposely written to help anyone out there who might not have a working knowledge of the Bible. I desire to say more in less space, but be patient. MALACHI ends the OT with …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 38/Book 38 – ZECHARIAH): Zechariah and Haggai were contemporaries making them both post-exilic prophets. They both were called by God to get the people to finish the temple and to do it with humility and honor. Let me give you more detail today than I did yesterday with HAGGAI. HAGGAI was a two chapter book and ZECHARIAH is …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 37/Book 37 – HAGGAI): For me there is no book so full of truth and so packed with power than this book. I have taught this book more than any other Old Testament book because it is short and stout! This is a post-exilic book of the Bible. Let me explain what that means. The 722 BC Assyrian victory over the northern kingdom o …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 36/Book 36 – ZEPHANIAH): Here is yet another book unknown by many who profess a faith in Christ. All Christians should be committed to all of our Scriptures. We have less to know than lawyers at law school or doctors in medical school. We have highly selected portions of history that God has preserved for us because He gave …

Thoughts on the 66 Day Revolution (Day 35/Book 35 – HABAKKUK): Outside of this book little n known about Habakkuk. Inside the book we see a zealous prophet that desires holiness in his land. He is perplexed about why God hasn’t brought judgment upon the people of Judah. They flaunt their sin and pride. God does have a plan to punish Judah and finish them He wil …
